ASLized is inviting you to join our team. We are seeking knowledgeable, passionate, and committed people to join our submission committee.
Our submission committee is divided into two portions with separate areas of focus: Linguistics and Literature. Your duties are as follows: review all submissions and determine their appropriateness for inclusion on our website. Each reviewer will receive a rubric as a guide for judging submitted pieces. After tendering your votes along with comments, the committee chair will submit the approved pieces for publication if there is a general consensus among the submission committee as to the quality and appropriateness.
If a piece shows potential but requires editing before publication, the committee chair will condense comments, omit the reviewer’s names, and return the comments with the original submission to the author for the opportunity to re-submit the piece at a later time.
All of this will be done online by reviewing videos using our rubrics at your convenience within a pre-established time frame. The chair will only aggregate and determine results before posting the final draft on the website.
This exciting opportunity will last 12 months with the option to extend your term another 12 months. A reviewer may serve a maximum of 24 months on one committee.
If you are interested, please submit your resume and a statement of interest to contact@aslized.org. Your resume and statement should exhibit your knowledge of the subject matter and demonstrate your ability to screen for high quality submissions. We will take into consideration the following factors: previous or current work in the field and educational background.
If your education or work does not cover the fields but you are still interested and believe that you have other qualifying factors, please include your contact information with your resume and statement. We may ask for an informal interview. We also welcome all points of views.
We at ASLized are excited about challenging the paradigm of sharing scholarly works. We believe that this is a great opportunity for you to be an agent of change!
