Editor
Responsibilities:
  – Editorial research, copy editing and fact checking for print and web,
  – Create opportunities to pitch stories and write,
  – Assist newsletter writer, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Interests in current events, print and online media
  – Strong writing and copyediting skills, and
  – Blogging and CMS background a plus.

Social Media
Responsibilities:
  – Finding places to promote ASLized pieces online,
  – Update ASLized’s various online profiles – Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, You Tube & more,
  – Assist in blog outreach,
  – Research best online practice and trends,
  – Help manage ASLized’s online community,
  – Actively participate in and initiate conversations,
  – Help pitch content to partners,
  – Drive traffic to ASLized’s YouTube channel,
  – Manage message boards and comments on ASLized videos to increase YouTube subscribers and help build ASLized’s Vimeo page and audience,
  – Reach out to different organizations to get ASLized videos featured, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Interest or background in communications and social media,
  – Experience with social media,
  – Strong connection with grassroots communities; additional marketing experience is a plus,
  – Current on trends and plugged-in to the blog and video scene, and
  – Superb interpersonal and communication skills.

Communications/Public Relations/Marketing
Responsibilities:
  – Build database of local and national programs of ASL, Deaf Studies, Interpreting, Linguistics, and related field,
  – Track and document current research about ASL, Deaf Studies, Interpreting, Linguistics, and related field,
  – Manage monthly newsletters,
  – Manage press releases,
  – Develop subscription database,
  – Create marketing materials for email campaign, subscription retention, promoting ASLized,
  – Seek partnerships with different higher education organizations, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Solid writing and communication skills,
  – Self initiative and creative,
  – Ability to work quickly and on deadline,
  – Interest or background in communications/PR,
  – Strong organizational skills, and
  – Strong research skills.

Video Production
Responsibilities:
  – Recruit signers and publish their work online,
  – Participate in brainstorming sessions with ASLized team,
  – Work with ASL coach(es), and
  – Familiar and keeps up with current research about general & bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Experience with Final Cut Pro or Adobe After Effects,
  – Digital design skills,
  – Ability to work in team environment,
  – Strong organizational skills,
  – Creative thinking is a must, and
  – Strong problem-solving abilities.

Design
Responsibilities:
  – Assist in the conception and execution of projects across several media including but not limited to: print, web, video, and education,
  – Assist in the design of printed materials, post illustrations, web banners, and screen designs for ASLized,
  – Work with newsletter writer(s) to develop infographics,
  – Photograph and draw for various projects,
  – Familiarity with line art animation a plus, and
  – Assist with ASLized team with day-to-day tasks.
Background/Skills:
  – Strong graphic design and typography skills,
  – HTML/CSS experience a plus,
  – Works well independently,
  – Sharp eye for detail,
  – Strong composition skills,
  – Ability to sketch ideas quickly, and
  – Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Engineering
Responsibilities:
  – Involved in all aspects of web development from design, to construction, to launch and
  – Handle HTML5, CSS3, PHP, AJAX, jQuery, to name a few.
Qualifications:
  – Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or the equivalent,
  – Ability to program in at least one language, preferably PHP,
  – Solid HTML/CSS skills,
  – Excellent communication skills, and
  – Desire to learn new programming languages.

Deaf Herstorian or Historian
Responsibilities:
  – Work closely with archivists and editors,
  – Work closely with Production team to publish videos,
  – Develop online teaching materials as requested by ASLized, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Currently pursuing a degree in Deaf History or the equivalent,
  – Self initiative,
  – Ability to work alone and complete tasks by deadlines,
  – Excellent organizational and communication skills, and
  – Desire to learn more about Deaf Herstory and/or History.

ASL Coaching
Responsibilities:
  – Always at the shooting to work with the signers,
  – Provide coaching and/or training before the shooting,
  – Work closely with Production team,
  – Develop online teaching materials as requested by ASLized, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Excellent communication skills,
  – Currently pursuing a degree in ASL or Linguistics, and
  – Friendly and energetic a plus.

Art
Responsibilities:
  – Feature different art works on ASLized website and newsletters,
  – Work closely with Communications/PR/Marketing & Social Media teams to seek for artists,
  – Provide information about artists,
  – Work on daily tasks with ASLized team, and
  – Develop different products related with art as requested by ASLized.
Background/Skills:
  – Strong interests in different genres,
  – Creative and self initiative, and
  – Motivated to learn more about Deaf artists.

ASL Literature Writer
Responsibilities:
  – Develop screenplays and/or literature for the signers to translate,
  – Work closely with the Production team and ASL coach(es) to ensure the authenticity of the writer’s work,
  – Develop online teaching materials, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.
Background/Skills:
  – Currently pursuing a degree in English or the equivalent,
  – Creative and self initiative, and
  – Passionate about ASL Literature.

Newsletter Writer
Responsibilities:
  – Report to Editor,
  – Create opportunities to pitch stories and write,
  – Work with Designer to develop materials for infographics,
  – Work with Communication/PR/Marketing and Social Media teams to stay abreast of current trends,
  – Reach out to local and national organizations to promote ASLized in their newsletters, and
  – Familiar & keeps up with current research about bilingual education, ASL, linguistics, general education, audiology & technology.

  – Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, English, Education or the equivalent,
  – Excellent communication skills,
  – Self initiative and creative, and
